JDM import 1996 Toyota Hiace Living Saloon van. Turbo diesel, four wheel drive, right hand drive, automatic transmission. Seats 8, has 4 moonroofs. Speedometer reads 278,025km which converts to about 172,756 miles.
We imported this from Japan a few years ago and it has been such a great vehicle for us. We drove it across the country and back with no issues, and it has been our daily driver. Has always run and driven perfectly.
This spring we had new brake pads installed, and this summer we got all new tires for it. It is inspected until May 2025. The frame is solid, no rust.
The issues:
* Some spots of body rust (see pics), some of which will need to be patched before inspection. As I said, no underbody or frame rust at all — we have always undercoated and don’t drive it in the winter.
* Back hatch is sticky and takes a special touch to latch… probably an easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing.
* One of the moonroofs leaks. We aren’t sure how the water is getting in, so we were planning on just sealing the moonroof. However, since we decided to sell we thought the new owner might want to actually repair it and have an operable moonroof, so we did not seal it.
* Needs two new speakers in the front (they are crackly). We got a Boss bluetooth stereo installed when we bought the van, which works great, so with new speakers it will be good to go.
