Stock #6080
Toyota’s 80 series Cruiser is a certified tank of a vehicle in more ways than one! This 1995 HDJ81 is underpinned by a sturdy turbodiesel mill, full-time 4WD and has the fit and finish to back it up. Finished in Desert Dune Metallic/Moonglow Pearl (2AB), this 80 series is set off by a polished brushguard with dual driving lamps, gunmetal two-tone accents, a factory spare tire carrier, optional moonroof visor, and a slick set of OEM rainguards. A set of Weds Adventure Hase Spec alloys are a handsome upgrade over stock and are shod in some killer 35″ Toyo All Terrains too! Showing a few chips, dings, and spots of clearcoat fade from day to day use, the exterior is no worse for the wear and the 155k miles on the clock indicate this one lived a dutiful life overseas as well. Ideal for a weekend trail expedition, Toyota truck meet, or your weekly Walmart run, this 1HD-FT powered cruiser is nothing less than a true Japanese Classic.
Packed with durable materials and reliable power amenities, the interior of this cruiser is a lovely place to be overall. The seats are upholstered in a durable suede cloth and other than some typical stains and pilling they remain in good condition overall for nearly 30 year old upholstery. The matching material in the door cards is in good nick, and the headliner shows well outside of a couple stains here and there from daily use. The dash layout is compact, easy to navigate, and has resisted any unwanted UV damage over the years aside from a chip and some fading atop the center stack which frames a dual zone automatic climate control system that supplies comfort to the front and rear of the cabin. As a winter warrior, hot heat is on tap and cold A/C is ready for any future beach excursions. The driver benefits from power lumbar adjustment, and a wheel-mounted SRS airbag for some extra safety at the helm. Power windows, locks, and electric side mirrors work as advertised although the folding function has slowly given up over the years. An expansive power moonroof even unfurls if natural ventilation is more your thing. The rear is plenty spacious and has enough room to sleep out under the stars, and we even retained the owner’s manual to protect your investment. Save for an inoperable headunit and some upholstery wear, and some missing door handle trim, it’s hard to criticize this 29 year old cabin and it’s held up quite nicely into the 21st century!
Revised for the 1995 model year, the 1HD-FT under the hood is a beefed up 24 valve version of an already killer turbodiesel engine. Ours is fresh off a comprehensive recent service and a laundry list of preventative maintenance was performed so you can start chugging down stateside highways and byways from day one. To start, two new 12v batteries were installed to aid ignition, and we installed a new engine air filter and fuel filter to keep any unwanted contaminants out of this 4.2l. We resealed the oil pan to keep all your lubricant internal and then performed a fresh oil and filter service to get you on track for the next 5000 kilometers. We also replaced a tired A/C belt with a new unit. With the engine running tip-top it was time to shift our focus to the drivetrain. Power is sent to a full-time 4WD and we rebuilt both front hubs to keep everything in compliance. A new Old Man Emu steering damper makes highway stability a breeze, and we installed new shocks all the way around to keep the ride comfortable. The steering is surprisingly easy to navigate on this behemoth and the brakes do a fine job at slowing this Cruiser to a halt. The 35″ Toyo rubber on all four corners is brand spankin’ new and we performed a fresh alignment to ensure you get the most out of the new rolling stock!
