The R32 Nissan Skyline GTR is undoubtedly one of the most iconic automotive designs to ever come out of Japan. Many of the R32 in our collection here are well preserved, time-capsule models, that are intended for use as seldom driven collector cars. One would almost feel guilty about using one of these models as a dedicated track car, everyday driver, or weekend warrior, as values seem to keep rising higher and higher. However, behind the GTR’s iconic image lies a raw and exhilarating performance car, with gobs of power, torque, and ahead-of-their-time technological features. Nissan’s “Godzilla” was meant to be driven, and this particular 1992 model year example is a well modified, no-excuses monster. Enthusiasts with a keen eye may recognize that the exterior finish on this example is none other than the iconic LP2 Midnight Purple, a factory option on the R33 Nissan Skyline and fan favorite for resprays and restoration jobs. The vehicle was professionally repainted and restored in the USA under our supervision and the end result is nothing short of beautiful. Exterior modifications are tasteful and not over the top, retaining a near factory look. The front fascia has been fully revamped, thanks to the addition of a NISMO N1 Style front bumper and NISMO headlights. The rear wing was removed from the decklid in Japan and the trunk holes professionally shaved. While this is a more unique look for the R32 chassis, we do enjoy the more subtle appearance of this GTR’s rear end. Lastly, a set of wheel spacers were installed to give the vehicle a more aggressive stance on the stock 16” forged 5 spoke alloys. Wrapped in a set of brand new Falken tires, these OEM wheels look extremely fitting on this chassis and are incredibly lightweight. Other than these minor OEM plus modifications, the exterior is beautifully stock and a perfect starting point for anyone looking to put their own personal touch on this Godzilla. The interior is quite clean as well for a 28 year old vehicle. All original materials have held up nicely with only minimal signs of wear. The factory seats are still in excellent shape, the gray alcantara showing signs of light use while still looking and feeling exceptional. The dash has developed the usual 90’s Nissan “bubble” which is nothing out of the ordinary for these cars. All dash buttons, switches, and features work as expected, down to the factory triple gauge pod and automatic climate control. The OEM tri spoke steering wheel is still present and in great shape, original interior parts are getting harder and harder to find on these vehicles, so it is refreshing to see an example with everything still intact. The OEM instrument cluster is fully functional and displays just 118,170 verified km’s. Translating to just 73,427 original miles, it is easy to see why this R32 looks so great, but as any car enthusiast knows, its what’s on the inside that really counts. Pop the hood and the heart of the beast is revealed. Nissan’s famed RB26DETT twin turbocharged inline 6 sits front and center in a spacious engine bay and fires up without a hitch. Mechanically this engine has remained mostly in original condition, save for a couple of key performance modifications that further enhance the driving experience. A set of twin intakes feed the stock twin turbochargers, resulting in a quick responsive spool, and a full exhaust from the downpipes back help this RB26 breathe properly while providing a welcome increase in acceleration. Speaking of acceleration, this R32 drives the way you’d expect a proper Godzilla to drive. The RB26DETT runs healthily as it screams to redline, and shifts through the 5 speed AWD transmission are smooth and direct. Nissan’s famed “Attessa” AWD system grabs the vehicle during even the most aggressive driving conditions, and a set of aftermarket coilovers with swift springs ensure that this R32 stays planted in tight corners and curves. This GTR is an iconic chassis in an iconic color, now it just needs a new driver to continue the legend stateside.
